Italic Text Generator
Create italic text using four copyable Unicode letter sets. Compare serif italic, sans-serif italic and their bold versions for short titles and accents, without adding Markdown or HTML formatting.

Compare italic and bold italic styles
Serif italic for a shaped accent
This row gives supported Latin letters a slanted serif form. Use the complete word as your sample: letters such as h use their own mapped characters, and the receiving font affects the final appearance.
Sans-serif italic for a simpler line
Sans italic offers slanted letters without the serif finishing strokes. Compare it with serif italic when a short label needs a different look but should remain visually light.
Two bold italic alternatives
The bold serif and bold sans rows add heavier letter shapes. They are useful for comparing emphasis within the same short phrase, but they do not make the destination app’s normal font bold.
Numbers and punctuation stay ordinary
All four presets leave digits and punctuation unchanged. A date or price mixed with italic letters will not become fully slanted. Choose native formatting in a text editor if the entire run needs consistent italics.
How to generate italic text
- 1
Enter your original text, including any numbers or punctuation.
- 2
Compare the four italic rows. Check whether ordinary digits next to slanted letters suit your use.
- 3
Copy the chosen row and test the pasted result in the intended app.
Practical uses for italic letters
A short book or project title
Try a compact title in serif italic for an informal list or message. Keep a plain-text version when the title must be searchable or entered in a catalogue. This effect does not add the semantic emphasis of an editor’s italic control.
Night Sky → 𝑁𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑆𝑘𝑦A quiet label above a paragraph
Use a brief sans italic label before ordinary body text, then inspect the line at the actual reading size. Avoid converting the whole paragraph, especially when readers need to select, search or reuse the wording.
A small note → 𝘈 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦A bold italic announcement
Compare a short announcement in a heavier slanted style when regular italic is too subtle for your design. Check the complete pasted line, including any punctuation that stays unchanged.
Coming soon → 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒐𝒏A display-name accent
Try bold sans italic on an existing name and test the destination field before saving. If the field rejects the characters, choose ordinary text; the generator does not control account-name validation.
Nova → 𝙉𝙤𝙫𝙖Italic text: formatting and copying questions
Is this the same as pressing an italic button?
No. An editor’s italic button applies formatting to ordinary text; this tool outputs separate Unicode characters. Native formatting is preferable when you need semantic emphasis, consistent multilingual styling or editable document typography.
Can I use the output with Markdown or HTML?
You can paste it as characters, but the tool does not produce Markdown asterisks or HTML em tags. If the destination supports those formats, use its normal italic syntax to preserve ordinary text.
How do I get bold italic text?
Choose either bold italic row in the grid. Serif and sans-serif versions are available. The Bold Text Generator includes the same bold italic choices alongside upright bold letters if you want to compare slanted and upright forms.
Why do my numbers not become italic?
These presets map letters only. Digits, spaces and punctuation stay as entered. Use native italics in a document editor if a year, formula or full sentence needs one consistent slanted font.
Can I italicize an entire Chinese or Japanese sentence?
Not with these Unicode mappings. Unmapped characters remain unchanged. A font or rich-text italic setting in the destination editor is the appropriate control for styling an entire multilingual sentence.
Why does pasted italic text look different?
Character shapes depend on the destination’s font support and display size. Try another row, keep the accent short and use ordinary text if you see missing glyphs. Copying succeeds independently of whether every app can render the result.
What happens if my text is longer than 2,000 characters?
Your full source stays in the input, but this tool converts only the first 2,000 Unicode code points and shows a notice. Copy also uses that partial result. Work in shorter sections to convert everything; switching between text tools keeps the original until you clear it or reload.
Is this tool free, and where is my text processed?
It is free and requires no account. Conversion happens in your browser; the tool does not send your input to a conversion server. The shared source lasts only for this page session, so keep your own copy before clearing the input, reloading or closing the tab.
